That one! Why he’s just like a god in my eyes;
That one, dare I say, has the gods beneath him,
Seated always close by your side he woos you,
Ogling, and hears you
Laughing, oh so sweetly, it tears my heart out,
Stealing all my mind. As I sit and watch you,
Speech deserts me, Lesbia, words are lost, my
Voice is defunct, the
Tongue is lifeless, dumb, while a flame so subtle
Courses through my limbs, and a noisy jangle
Echoes round my ears, till a shroud of darkness
Closes my eyelids.
Icy sweat runs over my skin, and trembling
Seizes all my limbs with an eerie pallor,
Green as fading grass, for my soul in torment
Seems to be dying.
