Katullus
Do Lezbii
Boskim wydawa³o mi siê oblicze
Owego mê¿a, który mo¿e piêkniej
Od niebian wygl¹da, gdy siedz¹c z Tob¹
Patrzy i s³yszy

Œmiech Twój s³odki, a ja drêczon myœlami
Swe zatracam zmys³y. Spotkawszy Ciebie
Najmilsza Lezbio, ¿adnej we mnie si³y
Prócz g³osu w krtani.

Cia³o me zaœ rozpala p³omieñ cichy
Nie mog¹c przemówiæ, s³yszê w uszach dŸwiêk
Dziwaczny. Widaæ jak kochanków parê
Cieñ nocy oblek³.

Boleœnie parzy Katullu samotnoœæ
Twoja, szalejesz poznawszy ich szczêœcie.
Bezczynnoœæ zgubi³a pierwej i królów
Miasta szczêœliwe.

This translation is in Polish. When I've seen on this site are so few Catullus's poems, I've thought I must change this. I love 51!

In line 9, the i in tenuis scans as long, which makes me take it as an old form of the accusative plural in the third declension, which then means it should be modifying artus. However, every translation I have come across takes it as modifying flamma in the next line. Why is this?
