This website is great and has served me well on numerous occasions. However, I believe that the English translation of Catullus 63 either comes from a different Latin text than the given one or is a translation of a completely different poem altogether. It seems too loosely related to the exact Latin for it to be the same text, though slightly referencing the same story. I'm not trying to disapprove of the site; most other entries have immensely helped me in this department. It's just this special case I was wondering about.

Does any of you have a more accurate translation? Thanks.

The translation suggests that Catullus anticipated the invention of napalm by about 2,000 years.

Seriously someone has taken extreme liberties with artistic liscensure when they translated 63. It was a nice rendition but certainly not reliable.

http://www.aztriad.com/catullus.html is a much more accurate rendition, if perhaps not quite as enthusiastic as the one on this site.
